Hagstrom Viking Deluxe 12-String

The hardness of maple enhances tonal brilliance, so it was natural for us to develop Hagstrom’s 12-string Viking® Deluxe. Maple used throughout the body and neck results in a brilliant voice for this guitar.  Standard equipment on Hagstrom is our H-Expander™ truss rod and Resinator™ fretboard. Both of these features also enhance acoustics by emphasizing the octave strings, balancing them with the naturally fuller standard strings, resulting in a lush, chorale-like acoustic platform upon which we build our Hagstrom pickup magic. The magic comes from our H-50 humbucking pickups, designed and voiced specifically for this 12-string model. Gorgeous vintage-sounding clean tones can heat up nastily when overdriven, taking this 12-string into new sonic territory.

More than 200 pounds of pressure are exerted on the neck of a 12-string guitar, a problem for traditional guitar designs. However, Hagstrom’s unique H-Expander™ truss rod, inspired by designs used in jet aircraft manufactured in Sweden by Saab, handles this with no problem, and even allows for an incredibly thin neck for playing comfort with no compromise in stability. Your neck will stay straight for years to come with Hagstrom’s Viking® Deluxe 12-string.

Viking Deluxe 12-String Standards

H-Expander

All Hagstrom electric guitars and basses include our patented H-Expander™ truss rod. Providing tension at both ends and running the entire length of the neck, the rigid yet light-weight alloy truss rod allows for a very low action and thin neck, two factors that were instrumental in earning Hagstrom its reputation as the world’s fastest playing guitar. The H-Expander™ truss rod not only provides ultimate neck stability, but it also contributes to Hagstrom’s unique tone.  Longer sustain and a round attack are some of the sonic characteristics the H-Expander™ adds to the tonal essence of Hagstrom.

Hagstrom Machine Heads

Hagstrom models use 18:1 or 15:1 gear ratio machine heads based on our own designs to insure accurate tuning. Viking® and HB series basses feature machine heads with a 17:1 gear ratio.

Resinator Wood

Resinator™ wood is a wood composite material that is both more uniform in density and more stable than any standard wood product. These characteristics eliminate dead spots or “wolf tones” sometimes associated with conventional wood fingerboards. Resinator™ wood has an articulate sound similar to high quality ebony, but without any of the problems associated with ebony. It provides a stable and clear tone, and also adds higher overtones and harmonics which uniquely detail each note. Like our H-Expander™ truss rod, Resinator™ wood is a major contributor to the distinctive “Hagstrom tone”.

Set Neck

Hagstrom uses a variety of different neck joints throughout our range. Our set-neck recipe is the classic and time-tested Mortise and Tenon joint, a design that most efficiently transfers string energy from neck to body, and can often only be found on more expensive custom-built guitars. A team of experienced and dedicated craftsmen hand carves every neck joint, insuring perfect execution of this traditional technique preferred by luthiers for generations.

Trapeze Stringholder/Tailpiece

The classic Viking trapeze stringholder/-tailpiece design, is a work of art in itself. Right underneath the top part, where the two beautifully swept beams meet, it features a string claw for easy access and super comfortable string changes. Adorned with the legendary Hagstrom crest it truly is elegance defined.

CITES

CITES regulations concerning the export of items containing certain woods affect any guitar sold ouside of the European Union and which contains any quantity of either Rosewood or Bubinga.  In these cases, an additional charge of £80.00 will be levied per species after the sale to pay for the required re-export certificate.  There will be a delay in dispatching any guitar containing either Bubinga or Rosewood of up to 4 weeks while we obtain the necessary certification for export. As the charge is per species, where a guitar contains both Bubinga AND Rosewood, the charge is doubled to £160.00.  We will contact you following your purchase of any guitar containing a controlled wood and advise of the charge once you have placed the order.  You can make payment for the charge by sending a Paypal payment to us at: sales@fxpedal.co.uk.

Note that CITES only applies to guitars containing Rosewood or Bubinga that are being exported outside the European Union.  Guitars being delivered with the United Kingdom or in the European Union will be dispatched as normal.

You can find out more information about CITES here: https://reverb.com/uk/news/new-cites-regulations-for-all-rosewood-species
